- For Modak base - in a pan add water bring it to boil, add salt and ghee and bring it to boil, add rice flour and mix, reduce the flame, cover to cook for 2 mins, set aside to rest for 10 mins covered. Knead to a dough while still warm


- Divide into three parts and add 1-2 drops of saffron food colour to one and 1-2 drops of green food colour to another. Mix well.

- Take a Modak mould, grease with oil and add saffron dough, stuff inside with the coconut-jaggery filling and seal with dough, demould and saffron Modak is ready.

- Take a white dough, grease the Modak mould, add the dough, add the coconut-jaggery filling and seal with dough, demould and white Modak is ready.

- Take a green dough, grease the mould and add the dough, add the coconut-jaggery filling and seal with dough. Demould and Green Modak is ready

- Place the Modak’s on a steamer and steam for 10 mins, set aside
